Things I Don’t Regret
a list for a birthday week
-all the Keystone Light in college
-quitting gymnastics when it started to feel wrong in my body even though it was my whole identity
-quitting cheerleading after one practice
-quitting the track team to do the musical in high school
-quitting the diving team to audition for more theater in college
-staying up all night for fun
-never staying up all night for homework
-going to summer camp instead of Italy with my family even though they said I’d regret it later but I never once did, even a little. Especially because my best camp friend was killed in a car crash a few years later and I had one more summer with her and that’s better than never seeing the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, I don’t care what anyone says.
-the thing in the AstroVan in 2009 (iykyk)
-using the insurance money from totaling my car to go to Europe alone for my 30th birthday
-moving to Mississippi (even though it was totally wrong for us… now I really know what’s right)
-turning down a role in a huge movie because I would’ve had to be topless
-the ten years I spent bartending and waitressing and auditioning and writing when my friends had 401ks and paid time off
-selling the condo in Burbank to buy a big, old house in Mississippi and selling the big, old house to move into a small, rent controlled apartment in Los Angeles.
-having another helping of the pasta
